How interior painting works in a Charlotte home
Most of the work in a good interior paint job happens before the first coat. Furniture is moved or covered, floors are protected, and outlet covers and hardware come off. Then the walls get looked at closely. Nail pops, settling cracks at corners and old anchor holes are filled, sanded flat and spot primed. Skip that and the new paint shows every flaw, especially in a room with strong side light.
We handle the prep that sits between a tired wall and a finished one: drywall and ceiling repairs, wallpaper removal, sanding, priming and taping. Popcorn ceiling removal is on our list too. Bare patches and stained areas get primer so the finish coat dries to an even color and sheen, instead of flashing where the patch was.
More about interior painting
Sheen is a practical choice as much as a look. Flat and matte finishes hide small surface flaws, which is why ceilings are usually flat. Eggshell and satin wipe clean more easily, so they suit hallways, family rooms and bedrooms where hands touch the walls. Semi-gloss stands up to scrubbing and moisture, which makes it a common pick for trim, doors and bathrooms. We talk through the sheen for each surface at the estimate.
Dark colors raise the stakes. A deep wall color with lamps or sconces washing across it shows every roller mark and patch. One Google reviewer had exactly that: a dark dining room with accent side lighting that another painting company had declined as too hard to get right. We painted the walls and repainted the ceiling, crown and baseboards in the same room. When the homeowners asked to add another wall on the day and already had the paint, we added it for what the reviewer called a really reasonable amount.
Some jobs are about fixing earlier work. One reviewer had painted his own office and was unhappy with the result. We repainted it so it looked as though he had never touched it, along with three more rooms and the entire ceiling of his first floor. Another family needed two bedrooms painted before they moved into a new house, and we scheduled the work so it was finished before move-in.
Our published price guide gives interior ranges so you can plan. Walls only run $2.75 to $6.00 per square foot, and walls plus ceilings plus trim run $3.50 to $7.00 per square foot. A 10x12 room is listed at $300 to $800. These are ranges from the guide, and your estimate sets the real number once we have seen the rooms. Financing is available; ask about it at the estimate.

Great experience having our cabinets and kitchen painted by Fine Finishes. Zachary, the owner, was quick to respond and excellent to communicate with. Our team, led by Mario, was efficient, neat, and did a wonderful job. Very happy with the way our kitchen turned out and would highly recommend Fine Finishes Custom painting!
We had a great experience with Zach and his team. Their pricing was more than fair and delivered on the quality of work. They did a creative paint design in our master bedroom and came out perfect. We will be using them again for more rooms in our house.
Wow, I’m so impressed with this painting group! I’ve had negative experiences in the past with other hired painters cutting corners, upcharging & delaying projects. This experience was not like that at all. It was a 10/10 experience. The customer service is professional, prompt & personable. I am impressed by how much attention to detail was shown on the job, leaving my walls & cabinets looking pristine. I’ll definitely be using this group time and time again!
